The Empty Observatory
Elevation 210 feet.
Lore
The Grimes Observatory was once one of the wonders of Ataland, a vanity project of a former leader of Coskiura. Vast sums of gold was poured in to its construction, with Dwarven stonemasons, Gnomish Artificers, Elven mirror-crafters and Human glassblowers all commissioned in its creation. The final structure stood as a huge hall, equipped with Ataland's largest ever telescope before or since, by quite some margin. During its operation, the Observatory made many fantastic discoveries in the night sky, including the first sighting of "Grimes' Comet", which passes by every 55 years.
Now known as The Empty Observatory, the structure lies in ruins. Expensive upkeep costs and a change of leadership were the death of the project. The observatory operated between 716 AC and 748 AC. Although the telescope remains intact, it is currently non-functional. However, with the right knowledge and tools, it could be temporarily repaired.
What remains of the building is now home to a colony of .
