If the target takes any fire damage before the oil dries (after 1 minute), the target takes an additional 5 fire damage from the burning oil. The audio reproducer is powered by a small, yet noisy, steam engine that can be turned on and off at will. The engine can hold 1/4 of a pint of oil, which it consumes in 1 hour of operation. (See flask of oil in the SRD.)
